There are many themes in the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The two that stuck out the most were determination and technology verse civilization. Technology in Bradbury's 24th century is very advanced. This book takes place in a world where reading books, or even owning one is illegal. This way nobody can gain knowledge or obtain power. The main character is Guy Montag, he is named after a paper-manufacturing company and also a fire fighter. Guy believes lighting books on fire is a noble profession, but he is often confused and frustrated. In the book, Bradbury doesn't give an explanation to why censorship has became such an impact in this futuristic society. Guy Montag never questions why books aren't allowed, he has to face the fact that he's living in a corrupt world. These new technologies keep people from thinking of their own independent ideas and gaining important knowledge. He meets this young girl named Clarisse McClellan, she turns out to be his new neighbor. She doesn't like socializing and she's interested in very odd things. Clarisse learns a lot from Montag, and she also inspires him to think out of the ordinary and question society. Guy begins to think outside of the box, he starts to gain more and more knowledge. In today's society a lot of people use technology and books as a way to gain knowledge. These are great ways to learn and if it weren't for technology, our world wouldn't be as advanced as it it.

Fahrenheit 451
The theme that is most out there in Fahrenheit 451 is the importance of censorship. This is portrayed by the main character Guy Montage. Guy Montage is a firefighter who loves to watch books burn even though his doesn’t know what information is contained in the book. He never questioned what lies in the books until he meets a young and beautiful girl named Clarisse. A Beautiful and educated girl who questions why do they burn the books and why does everyone do what they do. On a lovely evening Guy and Clarisse take a work down the road and they start to talk and get to know each other. She asked him “Why do you burn books not knowing what inside of them? He replied “it’s my job as a firefighter. What’s really ironic is that a firefighter is supposed to put out fires but instead he starts them. Also she told Guy to think about the decision you make, think for yourself and do what you think is right. This book has many ways to show censorship also because it is set in the future and world has changed and many things have been different in the society. Censorship is the idea viewed by the public a suppression of speech. Censorship is shown everywhere but we have no idea about it. It’s showing in different places and country. Another main theme in Fahrenheit 451 is the overuse in technology. Guy Montage’s wife Mildred overuse technology and she block’s everyone and everything in society. It’s just like this book and how they block society. People in America are used to watching TV for hours and hours and they used the internet all day checking their text messages and seeing if anybody looking for them. In today’s society people all use their phones all days. This all changed when he meets Clarisse who teaches him to decide for himself. Many of her fellow citizens, Mildred guy’s wife become obsessed with technology. She shuts out the world by watching television and listening to music through her headphones. Someone who contradicted this way of living is the character of Clarisse. Some people will considered a threat to society, they don’t wont to life in a place where they depend on technology, what happens if the power comes n doesn’t come on for a long time. Then they are screwed and they are going to find another way to get things done. In the world of Fahrenheit 451.
